But it was nice to see two people who can articulate their positions and answer questions intelligently (even if I "fundamentally disagree" with one of them on a lot of issues). I think Bush has set the bar so low (and now Palin) that I get excited when people can speak off teleprompter without making huge, glaring mistakes.

Boring. A tie. Barack missed the opportunity to say in a strong voice: "I'll make sure the Alaska-Russia border is secure. No governor will have to stay up late worrying about it."
I couldn't stand to watch.
But what I read later was that by holding his own and appearing equally knowledgeable on foreign policy and by coming across better on the economy, yes, Obama came out ahead.
I gave it to Obama on points, not a knockout. He was solid and steady, and McCain had his share of groaner moments.
