Merry Christmas!

Hello Bloggy World!

I don't know if anyone reads this anymore, but if you do, hello! Sorry for my long absence. Life got busy, busy, and then I got sick, and well, blogging just kind of fell by the wayside. But now it's finals time, and what is finals time good for but finding new and creative ways to procrastinate? I'm serious, if I look through my archives, each finals period brings a spurt of blogging creativity and productivity, and this year is no different.

Well, that's a lie. This year is a little different because I've had some weird mystery illness for the last three months, and I'm, shall we say, just barely muddling through. I've never set the bar so low for myself in my life, but hey, as long as I pass, I'm happy!

My goal for 2010 (wow! new decade!) is to be HEALTHY. I'm hoping I'll have some medical answers soon, but in the meantime, I've got some other goals that might make me feel better, or at least will be good for me! A friend and I plan to sign up for yoga classes in the new year, and I'm thinking of trying a mostly vegetarian diet. I already eat almost entirely vegetarian at home (mostly because meat is expensive, and usually takes longer to prepare than veggie dishes), but when I eat out (which happens more than it should), I tend to eat meat (which means that it's probably more fatty/salty/whatever than I would prepare for myself at home!).

Other goals include decluttering/organizing my things before I move again, hopefully doing some volunteer work (if I have energy on top of school - this will depend on my healthy goal!), and reading some good non-school books. I know these aren't very lofty goals, but I like to set ones I think I can actually achieve! My "reach" goal is to go visit London; I had a trip planned this fall that I had to cancel because I was sick, and I would really like to get there sometime before I start work. I miss my friends who live there so much, and I don't want to wait another FOUR years to see them!

Well, this is a pretty boring post, but I suppose it's a reflection of where I am - finals, sick so lacking much of a social life, and it's December (read: gray and depressing). But I'm confident 2010 will be MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

Ciao loves!

5k OK!

Hi blog readers (if there are any left):

I thought it was about time to revive the old blog. I'm settled into the TC, loving being back here, and enjoying (with some non-bloggable caveats) my job. Mostly I just love being in Minnesota and around all my friends here. I feel really at home.

And speaking of, well, ok, kind of unrelated, but today I finally RAN MY 5K! I know I blogged about doing it, months and months ago, but today I finally went for it. I was slow (very slow), but I finished! I wasn't even the last one to cross the finish line (although I was passed by a girl who could not have been more than 8 and a mom pushing her new baby in a stroller). Now I'm going to work on improving my time, so the next time I go out and do one I might even finish only HALFWAY back instead of close to the end!

In other news, have I mentioned how much I love Minnesota? I do. You should all come visit. You'll love it and never want to go home.

The end.

Soap Giveaway!

Back from the netherlands of law school for breaking news - soap giveaway.

My friend Beth's friend is giving away free soap from her homemade soap business here.

It looks yummy and delicious, and I am highly tempted to try some out (even if I don't win the free soap).

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Spring Break

Perhaps just confirming the obvious, but I just can't keep up the 'ol blog at the moment. No time, life too boring to write about, something like that!

Anyway, a fond farewell to the (probably zero) people who still keep up on this blog. I'll try to start again this summer, when I've returned to the Land O Lakes!

Love,
LegalEagle

Seriously

Is it only Wednesday?

One more paper, internship day, 2 classes, and finally one fellowship day between me and the sweet, sweet weekend. Can't wait.

Sorry for lack of blogging, so busy I can't think!

Learning, always learning..

* The best (only) way to get a recalcitrant landlord to act is to threaten rent withholding, even though you've already spent more than 2x what you should on heat this winter. (This is a life lesson, not a law school lesson, but I feel it could be applicable to my later practice of law) It works wonders that no amount of complaining, e-mailing, or being nice will do.

* The best cannoli in Boston are the ricotta, chocolate chip ones, at Mike's Pastry in the North End. Do not listen to the snobs who tell you Modern Pastry is better. It's not. It just has shorter lines and fewer tourists, but that does NOT make it better.

* When some art says "modern," beware. This might just mean they take their pants off a lot and throw things in the air. (Note: I learned this lesson in Vienna, but I have re-learned it this month. Hopefully this it will stick this time.)

* The best cure for procrastination is to plan fun things, and then require yourself to be done with work before they begin. (Note: This only works if you know exactly how long it will take you to complete a project, which you mostly never do, so be careful.)

* Etsy is super-duper-fun-and-awesome. I don't have a lot (read: any) extra money (see Landlord issue above), but I love to browse and dream about the fantastically creative jewelry I will someday buy to adorn my recession-friendly blue, black, and tan suits. If I have to dress like a cog, at least I can wear fish-scale earrings in the process!

* I've stopped writing in things I've learned and just started rambling, so I think it's time to wrap this up. Back to work!!

2009!

Happy New Year!!

I've been a bad blogger lately, I know I know, but I'm back!

I had a fantastic break with the other Elves in the family (see below) and visiting friends in Minnesota (yes, it was cold, yes, I still want to live there).

Now I'm back in Beantown, where I just finished up my first week on the downhill side of law school (YESSSSSS). This semester, despite a lingering case of bronchitis, is starting off well. I think I've already read more and am more on top of things than I was last semester, ever, which is a good thing. There's the added benefit of knowing that summer, freedom, a job with money, and Minnesota are just a few short months away. Also, today is the last day of Bush being president, can I get a WHAT WHAT?

So yeah, summary: life is good, I'm coughing, I'm happy, Boston is covered in snow.
